About the Rajagopuram Temple Project

Over the past 40 years, the Sri Rajarajeswari Peetam (Sri Vidya Temple) has evolved into an important center for the worship of the Divine Mother Rajarajeswari, attracting thousands of visitors each year from around the world.

With the grace of our Guru and Guru lineage, we are actively pursuing the next phase in the Temple’s development, the “Rajagopuram Project,” which entails the construction of a unique new temple for Sri Vidya Lokamata Rajarajeswari Devi complete with traditional Rajagopuram. “Whatever we offer, it may be a brick, but as long as that brick is there in that temple, we will spend that much time (thousands of years) in Kailash or Vaikuntham.”

Mahaperiyava Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati

Building such a divine Temple for Sri Rajarajeswari will be a great service to humanity for generations to come, and anyone who selflessly supports such a project will be blessed by Devi for countless lifetimes.

The Agni Purana proclaims that there is no greater punya than that which comes to us from building a holy Temple for the Supreme Divinity. Even a thought of constructing a Temple is adequate to demolish sins of longstanding nature and grant us the right to reach the Supreme Mother.

A temple to last a thousand years.

The new Temple will be built according to the Kashyapa Shilpa Shastra. The Agama Shastras describe how to build a traditional Temple, outlining specific dimensions and architectural details, as well as the benefits.

By following these Agamas, we can build a beautiful, powerful and durable Temple that will stand the test of time. Even more divine energy will be attracted into the Temple, maximizing the power of the auspicious blessings that radiate to all. The rishis of ancient India have bestowed this sacred science of Temple construction on humanity, for the sake of world peace and universal spiritual upliftment.

Here are four reasons why you should consider donating now:

1. Approvals in Place

In Dec 2020, the town of Rush officially approved the master plan for the proposed new temple.  Construction approvals (building permit) for Phase I (Ganapati temple) are expected in Jan-Feb 2021.

2. Already underway

The carving of the Ganapati Sannidhi for Phase I of temple construction is near complete, ready to be transported from India to the USA. The granite Subrahmanya Sannidhi contract has been signed and construction has started.

3. Historic & Unique

Sri Vidya Temple is not only the oldest temple in North America dedicated to Rajarajeswari Devi and Sri Vidya, it is the only “teaching temple” of its kind that promotes inclusivity, youth involvement & intellectual understanding of Sanatana Dharma. You can help preserve and promote this vision for generations to come.

4. Mother's Grace

The Agni Purana declares that the there is no greater punya that contributing to temple construction. Lalita or Sundari is the only deity that grants bhoga (worldly desires) as well as moksha (final liberation).  You can be part of building a permanent home for the Mother of all creation.
